FAQ's

I do not live in Orange, can I play in Region 1335?

Yes! In AYSO you can play in any AYSO region you want. It is just a matter of how far you want to drive to play.

When is practice?

Practice is determined by the coach. Practice usually runs Monday-Thursday, 1-2 times a week, anywhere from 5-8 PM, for 1-2hrs a day, depending on the age group. U5-U8 usually practice 1 day a week for 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. U10 and up usually practice 2 times a week for 1hr - 2hrs a day. The Region cannot guarantee a practice time or location.

******Once a coach completes certifications, the coach will contact players and give practice specifications. We aim to have all families contacted by late August at the very latest***

When are the games?

Fall Season will begin the weekend after Labor Day.  Spring Season typically runs from March-May.

Games are played on Saturday anywhere from 9 AM- 4 PM. One game a Saturday. U10 and up will play Sunday games if they go to Play-offs or All-stars and may play up to 3 games a day at Play-offs or All-stars. Spring games will be played on Saturday's with possible Sunday games.

Can my child play with a friend or a  specific coach?

U6-U8 players may request to play with a coach but not a friend. Not all requests can be honored, as team balancing is our #1 priority. There is no guarantee that any request will be made possible.

What is team balancing?

This is done to ensure that teams are evenly competitive and fun. In the AYSO Fall Season, it is about having fun while learning to play soccer. Teams that are being slaughtered each game are not having fun. So teams are balanced as evenly as possible based on information provided by parents at registration.

What equipment will my child need?

Region 1335 will provide the basic uniform (Jersey, Shorts, Socks). Players must provide their own shin guards and socks covering the shin guards. Please do not put your child's name on his/her uniform. They will not be able to wear a uniform bearing their name in a AYSO game.  A soccer ball is not required but recommended.  Check here for ball size, which varies based on your child's age.

What can I do to make a change in the way things are done?

Do not complain! Do something about it! You can volunteer and become a Coach, Referee, or Board Member.

My child does not have a coach, Why?

AYSO Region 1335 is a all volunteer organization. All the volunteers are parents of players. AYSO does not have a coach or referee staff waiting for you when you register your child. AYSO does not pay its volunteers and prohibits paying any coach, referee, trainer, or staff member. Players are registered and then parents volunteer to coach, referee, and run the region. If you the parents do not volunteer?. Then the kids will not be able to play.

Do boys and girls play together?

In Region 1335, our younger divisions are coed (Schoolyard and U6) and sometimes U8, depending on how many players register.  When divisions combine the boys and girls together, it's usually in an effort to form more teams.  U10 and older will never be coed.

Why are pets not allowed at game or practice?

Region 1335 enforces these laws to protect our permits and to comply with AYSO National Rules and Regulations. Also, The State Of California, The City Of Orange and The County of Orange prohibit dogs on school property. The City of Orange follows County laws in this matter.
